Active tag
RFID technology that is used to track a load/pallet.
Active tag reader
RFID technology that is used to read an active tag. All TIP trucks have an active reader on the back of the vehicle.
Ask
Price submitted to the exchange by the shipper.
Assessment
Grading information collected by all parties (shipper, receiver, and carrier) for their counterparts and used in the bidding process.
Authority
Mechanism that DOT and Ministry of Transportation use to control of the trucks that are on the road.

Bid
Price submitted to the exchange by a carrier. A "closed" bid indicates that the shipper and carrier agreed on all aspects of the load.
Bid & ask
Process of establishing a price and closing a deal between carrier and shipper.
Bidding
Same as bid & ask.
Broker
Individual or company that buys and sells freight. Also known as freight broker.

Consignor
The party who originates a shipment of goods (shipper). The sender of a freight shipment, usually the seller.
Consignee
